Playback of Single Parts is Coming Back
Recently we removed a feature for playing individual parts that we thought few people used. It worked by checking to see if a single staff was selected, and playing back only that one staff in this case. We thought that this feature was confusing and poorly documented, and it internally conflicted with a new Part Mixer feature that we created for Crescendo. When we created the Part Mixer, it seemed like the best idea to take out the old single-staff feature.
Well, perhaps it wasn’t the best idea… and we’ve thought better of it.
What we’ve found out since the 2.1 release is that that a lot of users really cared about this feature — so we’re bringing it back! It wasn’t our intention to remove something that feels really basic to everyone. We are planning to release a system upgrade in the next week or two that will restore this feature to life. Thanks to everyone who wrote to us and shared their thoughts with us.

Thanks for bringing this back. I really use when I want to hear each part individually. It really helps and I was sad after the update that it wasn’t there. I’m glad it’s coming back.

Thankyou so much, this update will help me for a contest I’m auditioning for electronic music showcase, it makes my life so much easier to play back just the single parts in a large composition, however, the music part mixer is a good idea. It’s a good idea to keep both.

Thank you! When I am writing pieces, this comes in handy especially for string instruments, where I can tell when and where I need to shift. :) I would really like to be able to print individual parts, though……. in the free version!

I use this feature all of the time. It is much quicker than making each part a “solo” just to hear it, then having to uncheck all of the muted parts….anyways, Iam ver glad to see this back!

Thank you thank you thank you for bringing it back! It’s difficult to know exactly where your music is going without that feature. Noteflight has gotten getting better and better and it’s never gotten worse. It’s kind of like a slow motion Christmas.
